Here you will find the most up to date information on the project at rolling hills country club and its surrounding community.
Established in 1965 Rolling Hills Country club has been a centerpiece of Rolling Hills Estates and the South bay for over fifty years. This project, almost fifteen years in the making will provide a first class golf course, clubhouse and gathering point for its members and guests. A David Mclay Kidd designed golf course and Robert Alteivers designed clubhouse with a swim complex, health and fitness center and all the other amenities of a member owned country club.
After nearly three months of rain we have a beautiful weather window of sunshine and warm weather that is providing us an opportunity to move forward and make significant progress on the construction of the new golf course and clubhouse. Let's all cross our fingers and hope that the good weather continues.
I would like to thank the 250 members who were able to attend the RHCC Annual Meeting a month ago. For those of you who were unable to attend, please click here for a copy of the Annual Meeting presentation.
For those of you who have not been able to attend one of our weekly project tours, here is a quick project summary:

Storm damage update:
Since last October, we have received 21.75 inches of rain and have experienced 73 days where the construction of the golf course and clubhouse were impacted by the rains. As a comparison, the average rainfall in the last 5 years was 7.68 during the same period. On Jan 20, 2017 Southern California experienced what the LA Country Fire Department is calling a 150-year storm when we received four inches of rain in four hours. During this storm, much of project site experienced flood related damage which we are in the process of repairing. The areas of the golf course where sod was present (seven holes) performed relatively well and the damage was minor. However, the hillsides, bunkers, drainage basins, and areas with sand and soil exposed were heavily impacted and are now in the process of being repaired.
Fortunately, prior to construction, RHCC and our development partners purchased extensive liability and flood insurance so that much of the costs of repair will likely be covered by insurance. In addition, homes in the City of Lomita that were damaged from runoff from our property are being covered by the project's liability policy.
The single largest impact to RHCC because of the three months of rain flood damage is time. Here is our best estimate of the completion dates of our project:
We are moving forward with the construction and two additional holes, 4 and 9, were grassed last week and holes 15, 16, and 17 will be grassed in April. Now that the rain has stopped, our contractors have completed their estimates on storm related repairs our best estimate on opening the course is late September 2017.
The clubhouse was not as heavily impacted as the golf course and is now scheduled to open in mid-October 2017.
The first model homes for the new residential project are expected to be completed in October 2017. Chadmar will launch a website which will provide details about the new homes next month.
Although we expect to incur some additional costs associated with the rains and storm, we are confident that we have sufficient funds to complete the project and do not anticipate asking members for any additional contributions.
We continue to see strong demand for all categories of membership at the Club. Here is a quick summary of pricing and supply:
Equity Membership - last sale is $170,000. We currently have no equity memberships listed for sale. Beginning next month, a waiting list will be maintained by the Club for new equity membership applications.
Sports Social Membership - initiation fee is $25,000. We have sold 80 of the 150 available for sale. We expect to sell out this category by the end of the year.
Jr. Executive Membership - this category is now full and has a healthy waiting list to join.
New Club Operations
We have now begun booking events for the new clubhouse! The new clubhouse and surrounding event lawns can accommodate groups from 50 to 500 people and features 180 degree views of the city lights overlooking the LA basin. Demand is growing and we expect to sell out on key dates. Check out the view from our East event lawn and banquet facility.
It is my privilege to introduce our newest team member at RHCC, Tanja Janjic, as our Director of Catering & Events.

Golf Academy and Reciprocal Play
If you have not had an opportunity to visit some of the private courses in Southern California through our Alternate Play program, you may want to do so before our reciprocal play program expires with the opening of the new course. For detail on the participating courses and to access the Alternate Play, click here.
It is great to see the frequent use of the temporary golf academy in the old golf shop. Dave Hobby (click here), former PGA professional and our newest private golf instructor, has built up an impressive following using our state of the art Trackman 4 (click here) golf instruction software.
